Located in Singapadu in Gianyar, the Bali Zoo is the only one of its kind on the island. A visit to the Bali Zoo will add to your appreciation of the natural beauty and wildlife here and is fun for the whole family.
A visit to the zoo is not too difficult to achieve thanks to its central location amid the most popularly visited areas in Bali. It is less than half an hour away from Ubud. Also known as Kebun Binatang Bali, the Bali Zoo Park is filled with beautiful tropical trees and flowers. Its lovely setting adds to the charm of its amazing wildlife.
The animals here include tigers, deer, monkeys, numerous birds, and lizards, including Komodo dragons and iguanas. The collection is truly impressive and kids and adults alike will appreciate the opportunity to see these animals up close. The Bali Zoo is dedicated to conservation and has successfully bred a number of important animals, including Bengal tigers.
The zoo offers evening tours on Wednesdays and Saturdays, a great opportunity to see some of the animal’s nighttime habits. Nocturnal animals are special highlights of these evenings, which last from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and include a fire dance performance.
The zoo hosts other special programs such as animal feedings and even a small petting zoo. Kids will enjoy elephant rides and can easily get their picture taken with many animals. Other activities include a walk through the village, which will show you everything from the rice fields to the lush forests, and also includes cultural activities like a visit to some of the town’s gold and silver workshops.
For even more adventure, you can enjoy a zip line and a tree-walk activity.
After a long day, you can enjoy a meal at one of the zoo’s two restaurants, one of which overlooks the lion area and the other the zoo gardens. There is also a souvenir shop with all the little items that can remind you of your visit, including T-shirts and crafts.
The Bali Zoo is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Staff members are friendly and helpful. The zoo park is well-equipped for visitors in wheelchairs.
