There are many interesting attractions in Seminyak. In addition to Seminyak Beach itself, there are several other beaches for those who are seeking sun and sand. For others, Seminyak is best known for its many excellent art galleries that display Balinese and global artists who work in a variety of mediums and styles.
Kendra Gallery is one of the newest and most active of Seminyak’s art galleries. It is the perfect place to discover new artists and find a work that speaks to you. The artists themselves are sometimes here, during regularly held exhibitions. With a focus on Balinese artists, Kendra Gallery also hosts works from around the globe at its Jalan Drupadi location.
A popular spot for surfers, Echo Beach is still generally quiet and in fact is often nearly empty. Located along Jalan Pantai Batu Mejan, a short distance from Berawa Beach, this beach has a number of small warungs that offer snacks, light meals, and drinks. You can also rent surf boards from the vendors here and enjoy the lovely views of the water and sand.
Biasa Art Space
This art center on Jalan Raya in Seminyak showcases artwork by up-and-coming Balinese and Javanese artists, many of whom are being newly introduced. Biasa Art Space provides this great outlet to the young and creative while also giving visitors the chance to explore some amazing contemporary art works.
Canggu Beach is a very quiet beach that is an alternative to the much busier sites of Kuta and Seminyak. With black sands and water that is good for more experienced surfers (though it isn’t the best for swimming), this beach isn’t secluded but you are almost sure to be free of wandering beach vendors and sunbathers.
Petitenget Beach is a grey sand beach that is peaceful and usually tourist-free. The water is good for swimming, unlike at Canggu and Echo beaches, and the area is also great for walking or jogging. Sunbathe or just watch the waves at Petitenget Beach. Come around sunset for a great view.
Trick Art 3D Gallery
This is a fun gallery that adds something special to Seminyak’s collection of art galleries and shops. The 3D images here are impressively done and appear as paintings and murals, some done to mimic classical works while others take their inspiration from modern art and pop culture. Visitors often like to pose in front of the larger pictures and take photos. Trick Art 3D Gallery is located on Jalan Sunset and is open from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Pura Petitenget is a relatively small temple that still has a place of importance among the puras in Bali. Legend has it that the temple is one of the nine pillars (Kayangan Jagat) built by a wise man who was partly responsible for introducing religious laws to the island. Supposed to protect the island, the temple is also sometimes referred to as the Temple of the Secret Box. It is located on Jalan Petitenget. The most interesting times to visit Pura Petitenget are on holy days, when you can see special ceremonies.
