These museums represent the best in Bali. From archaeological finds to ancient manuscripts to modern paintings, there are many cultural treasures to admire and examine in the museums of Bali.
Museum Bali Provincial Public
This extensive museum was the first in Bali and it is perhaps the best as well. It is beautifully built to mimic the palaces of the island and its extensive collection is spread over three separate areas. Items, artifacts, and artworks housed in this world-class museum include paintings, pottery, archaeological finds, weapons, and much more. Any visitor can find something to interest them in this vast array. Bali Museum is open from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. from Monday to Thursday, but closes early at 12:30 p.m. on Friday. It is located in Denpasar on Mayor Wisnu.
Gedong Kirtya Museum
The Gegong Kirtya Museum is a unique and fascinating institution that showcases Balinese history, art, and literature through letters, some of which date back to ancient times. The displays here are very intriguing and are worth a look. You can visit the museum in Singaraja from 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday. The museum closes at noon on Friday and at 2 p.m. on Saturdays.
Gedong Arca Archeological Museum
This archaeological museum offers an excellent chance to gaze into Bali’s past. The Gedong Arca Museum has ancient tools and other artifacts that are thousands of years old as well as more recent treasures including statues, jewelry, and more. ARMA (Agung Rai Museum of Art)
One of the best art museums in Bali is ARMA, an extensive complex which includes a resort and offers lessons in painting, among its many other activities. The gallery is located on Jalan Rayan Goa Gajah and is open from 9 a.m. to 6. p.m.
